Welp. The high of coming off on one of my better Weekend League comebacks last week has worn off very quickly.
Qualifying
After starting off the qualifiers 3-3. I was playing stress free, knowing I just needed one more win to secure my spot in the 2nd weekend of FUT Champs. The next 4 games would prove that I still have a lot to learn in this new iteration.
Now, we've all faced times where we are MUCH better than the opponent we are playing against. I always know within the first few minutes if the opposition is of a higher skill level than me and that sometimes may factor into how I approach my tactics/formation, etc. I had 2 games in a row where the expected goals were at least 2 higher in my favor, yet my opponent came out victorious. Their GK having 12 saves versus mine having 3, you know, stuff like that. I know that it often goes both ways, but when you are trying your hardest to qualify, everything seems super magnified.
Throttled
Entering my final game, I was honestly a little defeated. We all know that this can be such a mental test as much as skill one at times. After watching the team load up of mostly mid-rated female players and not Icon loans, I thought I would at least have a shot.
Alex Morgan would again prove me wrong! Holy smokes! From kickoff, I was outclassed, outplayed and out coached. I would go down 5-0 at half, with Alex Morgan securing a hat trick, and I reluctantly threw in the proverbial towel.
The Re-Group
Back to the training grounds. I'm not sure what has changed this week as I was absolutely demolishing my opponents to close out last weekend and even playing some rivals earlier in the week. Did something get patched? Do I need a tactics makeover? New players in the squad? Find out this week!
