Building a strong team and accruing coins in Ultimate Team (FUT) can be a rewarding but challenging endeavor. Here are some strategies to get you started and help you make progress:

What you need to do

  1. Complete Starter Objectives: FIFA Ultimate Team typically includes starter objectives or challenges that offer rewards like player packs and coins. These objectives are designed to help you get acquainted with the game mode and provide an initial boost. Complete as many of these as you can, especially before jumping into Rivals.

  2. Play Squad Battles: Squad Battles is a single-player mode where you face off against AI-controlled teams. Winning matches in Squad Battles can earn you coins, player packs, and other rewards. Try to aim for higher difficulty levels and complete matches to maximize your rewards. Look, I know it can be boring at times but doing this can be essential to figuring out which players and tactics you may want to use.

  3. Participate in Rivals: Rivals is a competitive mode where you play against other FUT players. Based on your skill rating, you'll be placed in a division. Winning matches and completing weekly objectives can earn you rewards, including coins and player packs. The first week in Rivals is especially challenging because guess what? Everybody starts in the lowest division! Pros, casuals, dads, your Uncle Rico. Feel free to jump in, just don't be too pressed if you are getting absolutely waxed.

  4. Complete Foundational Squad Building Challenges (SBCs): SBCs are puzzles that require you to submit squads with specific criteria. Successfully completing SBCs can reward you with valuable player cards, coins, and packs. Keep an eye on the available SBCs and invest in players who are in demand for these challenges. The Foundation SBC's usually don't give you a whole lot in return but if you can complete them, they may unlock the next set that you're able to complete. Also, if you finish the early ones, you may be able to sell off any key players that will help others solve these.

  5. Market Trading: Buying and selling players on the FUT transfer market can be a profitable way to earn coins. Look for players with desirable attributes or popular leagues and teams, and aim to buy low and sell high. Be patient and strategic with your trades. Early on, it's all about Pace and Skill moves! Community Favorites are always a hot commodity: Renato Sanches, Kimpembe come to mind. Use an app like FUTBIN to check prices often. They will fluctuate rapidly the first few weeks. It's usually better to hold onto players for the first week until all the players who didn't pre-order the Ultimate Edition or have EA PLAY can jump into the game.

  6. Coin Boosts: EA often provides coin boost rewards, which multiply the number of coins you earn from matches for a specific number of games. These are usually found in the season rewards and sometimes objectives and will be automatically activated for you.

  7. Participate in Events and Promotions: Keep an eye out for special events, promotions, and weekend leagues in FUT. These events often offer better rewards, including player packs, coins, and unique player items. Participate in these events to maximize your returns. Word on the street is that there is going to be a Pepsi Promotion beginning on October 1st. Stay in the know! Subscribe to our Newsletter to keep up to date on all the relevant info.

  8. Complete Daily and Weekly Objectives: Ultimate Team has daily and weekly objectives that offer various rewards, including coins. Try to complete these objectives regularly to accumulate extra coins. This is an absolute must from Day 1. Make sure you are logging in daily to complete any and all that you possibly can. The faster you can ramp up your coins and packs, the better off you'll be.

  9. Invest Wisely: Monitor the FUT transfer market for potential investment opportunities. Look for players likely to rise in value due to factors like performance in real-life matches, position changes, or special events. It can be very tricky to do if you are unfamiliar with the UT patterns. Stay up to date with our UT Calendar and Newsletter to inform yourself of upcoming opportunities. Again, I'm more of a hold'em kind of guy. If you have a gut feeling about something, no harm in giving it a shout, just don't beat yourself up if you predicted wrong. It's easy to lose a lot of coins at the beginning of the game which is exactly what you don't want to do.

  10. Be Patient and Manage Your Coins: Avoid spending all your coins at once. Be patient with your player acquisitions and avoid overpaying for players. Managing your coins wisely is essential for long-term success in FUT. This year my main goal is to NOT do "lottery" SBC's. I'm going to do SBC's that are specific to the way I want to build a team. Yes, you could absolutely hit the proverbial lottery doing one, but it's way too risky and you just end up with a bunch of players that you're going to want to throw into another SBC. Just be warned!

Remember that building a strong team and accumulating coins in FIFA Ultimate Team takes time and effort. Be persistent, stay informed about market trends, and adapt your strategy based on your progress and the evolving FUT landscape.
